What the OEHS Professional Should Know About Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (AIHce EXP 2023 OnDemand)

Course Description:
Recorded at AIHce EXP 2023

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) have become buzzwords in our society. Being able to show how an organization is diverse, equitable and inclusive for their employees is a key indicator of business performance. The public wants to know how the businesses they work for or support are open to all individuals regardless of race, gender, background or beliefs. People want to know that when they walk through the doors of a company or buy their products, the people inside or behind the brand are like them. Do OEHS professionals have a part to play in a company's DEI goals? Are the activities we perform a positive reflection of our organization from a DEI perspective? This session will: 1) attempt to answer these questions by looking at the data and research; and 2) provide an in-depth review of the topic to help attendees understand it, explain it, and support it with actionable items.

Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of the session, the participant will be able to:

• Define what diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) means.
• Recall statistics on why DEI is being addressed as an area of concern.
• Examine reasons why OHES professionals should be aware of DEI initiatives.
• Outline how OHES professionals can support DEI initiatives in workplaces and communities.
