Use of the NIOSH List of Hazardous Drugs in Health Care Settings
Healthcare employers need to establish which drugs in their facility may be a potential hazard to workers. NIOSH publishes updates to the NIOSH List of Hazardous Drugs in Healthcare Settings (NIOSH List) to assist healthcare employers and their workers in identifying potentially hazardous drugs. This session will discuss the updates to the NIOSH List, including the most recent changes to the format and composition of the NIOSH List. There will be also an examination of the procedures and criteria NIOSH uses to develop and update the NIOSH List. Finally, the session will explore the NIOSH List usefulness and limits as a hazard identification tool in healthcare workplaces.
