The Past, Present, and Future of ESG and OEHS (AIHce EXP 2023 OnDemand)

Course Description:
Recorded at AIHce EXP 2023

AIHA formed a human capital/ESG (environment, social, corporate governance) task force in 2021 to help the association participate in the development of standards, norms, and professional practices with allied-partners. This session will discuss: 1) a background on IH/OEHS-related efforts in the HC/ESG space; 2) the case for relevance, if not an imperative for engagement; 3) the establishment of the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB); 4) the impacts of HC/ESG activities in the United States; 5) current organizational practices and metrics. The HC/ESG space is not without controversy, including whether activities go too far, or not far enough. The session wraps up with a look to the future with HC/ESG, and the role our profession will have in shaping it. Throughout the session participants will be engaged with polls and discussions. Input will be valuable for the task force as it provides recommendations to AIHA's Board of Directors, and engages with allied-partners.

Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of the session, the participant will be able to:

• Describe the IH/OEHS profession links to HC/ESG.
• Discuss how the IH/OEHS profession can impact HC/ESG activities.
• Identify growth opportunities to increase impact and leadership with HC/ESG.
• Assess the complexity in the HC/ESG, and see ways to focus priorities in it.
