The adult entertainment industry has historically had limited access to occupational safety and health professionals who have assessed the risks that dancers and other workers may encounter. This session will focus on hazards such as bloodborne pathogens, chemical exposures, and workplace violence found in Seattle area strip clubs in a series of case studies as presented by the WA State Department of Labor and Industries, Division of Occupational Safety and Health.

Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of the session, the participant will be able to:

• Assess workplace exposures in the adult entertainment industry.
• Interpret workplace samples for bloodborne pathogens to determine exposures to dancers, janitorial staff, and other workers.
• Discuss the different surface decontamination needs for the industry and the viability of the chemicals used.
• Communicate the realities of workplace violence in the adult entertainment industry.
• Define the structure of the industry relating to the status of workers as employees or independent contractors.
