Course Description:
Recorded at AIHce EXP 2022
Developments in the sustainability and ESG (environment, social, and corporate governance) space that have impact on organizational decision making are accelerating. There are clear ESG connections to OEHS, and its role in natural, social, human, and produced capitals. Methods are evolving for integrated capitals assessment and valuation, as well as for integrated systems-based decision making. AIHA has been contributing in this space since it co-founded the Center for Safety and Health Sustainability. The Capitals Coalition has been leading the development of methods and protocols. The Coalition's "Principles of Integrated Capitals Assessments" and "Social & Human Capital Protocol" will be presented. An OEHS case study will used to demonstrate the application of ESG impact and dependency pathways, and stock/flow methods to support organizational and OEHS decision making. These topics are new to many of us, and immediate relevance may not be clear. Gaining facility with them will aid in: 1) claiming a proverbial seat at the table, 2) improving and broadening decision making, and 3) demonstrating future-looking leadership.
Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of the session, the participant will be able to:
• Explain capitals thinking and commonly identified capitals.
• Apply integrated systems-based decision making to a current challenge.
• Speak about integrated capitals assessment and valuation.
• Provide leadership on these issues in their organizations.
