As IHs and HSE professionals, we attempt to influence or lead just about everybody within our organizations (hourly employees, line supervisors, legal counsel, procurement, CEOs, etc.). Historically we have had a significant level of technical training, experience, and education. Thus, we are expected to innately understand and be proficient at making the sale without any formal coaching, mentoring, and guidance. At a minimum, we must be effective and proficient so our H&S programs thrive. When our health and safety programs thrive, our businesses are profitable, people thrive, and workplace engagement increases significantly. This team, which will include the participants, will identify, describe, and discuss crucial skills of influence, selling skills rooted in neuroscience, and the stakeholders who are a must to have onboard as IHs and EHS professionals look to make the sale.

Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of the session, the participant will be able to:

  • Identify resources and opportunities that may be leveraged to influence for good.
  • Communicate their goals and objectives to the right people, garnering influence in the process.
  • Use skills and proven strategies to influence those who make H&S decisions.
  • Make the sale confidently and competently.
