Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the appropriate actions required to properly inspect and sample for mold in buildings known or suspected of having water damage and associated mold growth.
  • Understand different mold sampling methods that can be utilized, various advantages and disadvantages, and how to interpret the results.
  • Identify prudent actions required to properly develop remediation protocols or specifications to address mold growth and contamination in buildings.
  • Identify prudent actions required to conduct a post-remediation verification after final cleaning and prior to re-occupancy.

  • John “Jack” Springston

    John “Jack” Springston has over 34 years’ experience in industrial hygiene and occupational health. He has beena Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) since 1993 and is one of less than 50 active CIHs who also hold a subspecialty certificate in Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ).

    Jack been a co-author on several AIHA publications dealingwith mold and other microorganisms, including the 2015 Legionella guideline, 2020 mold ‘Green Book’ and,most recently, the 2021 Second edition of the mold assessment and post-remediation verification guideline. Hecurrently serves as the Vice Chair of the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienist’s (ACGIH)Bioaerosols Committee and has authored and co-authored several chapters for the upcoming Second edition ofthe Bioaerosols Assessment and Control book.

    Jack is a Fellow of the American Industrial HygieneAssociation (AIHA), and currently the Industrial Hygiene Services Manager, BranchSafety Officer, and Training Director for Atlas Technical Consultants in New York City and Long Island.
