Recorded at AIHce EXP 2021
As IH professionals begin to work with their colleagues to disinfect buildings and take other actions to eliminate COVID-19 exposures, it is important for them to have access to qualified testing laboratories that can analyze SARS-CoV-2 and related viruses. In April 2020, AIHA Laboratory Accreditation Programs' added a new scope category for reverse transcription (RT) qPCR analysis of viruses to its environmental microbiology program. Assured Bio was the first AIHA LAP accredited laboratory to be accredited for RT qPCR Analysis. Several case-studies will be presented to show how this quantitative RT qPCR analysis has been used by IH and EHS professionals in medical and commercial settings to inform decision making.
Upon completion of the session, the participant will be able to:
- Evaluate the quality of different SARS-CoV-2 tests with respect to accreditation and methodology.
- Develop a framework for standardized sample collection and analysis considering facility specifics; and,
- Analyze and interpret results of SARS-CoV-2 RT qPCR analysis considering specifics of various facilities.
