Overview of Risk-Based Thinking Principles
ISO/IEC 17025:2017 is the international standard by which testing laboratories are accredited by AIHA Laboratory Accreditation Programs and it includes several requirements for laboratories to conduct risk-based thinking. The first speaker in this session will explore concepts of risk-based thinking that can be used to identify, prioritize and mitigate risks in a testing laboratory as well as how laboratories can identify opportunities for improvement.

Using Risk-Based Thinking to Make Accreditation Decisions Around COVID-19
As an internationally-recognized accreditation body, AIHA LAP complies with another international standard ISO/IEC 17011:2017 and it, too, has requirements for risk-based thinking. The second speaker will describe how AIHA LAP has used risk-based thinking over the past year to identify, prioritize, mitigate risks and make other important decisions during the COVID-19 pandemic.
