Recorded at AIHce EXP 2021
The number of Industrial Hygiene (IH) professionals working in industry is shrinking. As baby boomers in the IH field approach retirement age, they are quite often not replaced. Their tasks are typically distributed among remaining IH's, absorbed by other EHS staff members or outsourced entirely. It is more critical than ever that we effectively demonstrate the value of IH and defend the critical role of IH programs through operational risk communication. Unfortunately, too many corporate leaders see IH as merely a requirement of doing business and fail to understand the full value IH experts.
During this session, participants will learn how to take a simplified, operations-based approach to IH risk communication. This includes: a) measures for driving worker engagement with IH programs before, during, and after sampling; b) strategies for effectively communicating the benefits of IH programs; and c) how to secure management buy-in for workplace controls and other IH improvements.
Upon completion of the session, the participant will be able to:
- Inform workers on the IH role in achieving the company goals.
- Communicate IH risks to workers and key business stakeholders.
- Influence stakeholders in making informed decisions on IH improvements.
