In addition to the significant risks opioids’ use poses, workers whose job responsibilities may result in exposure to opioids are not safe from its damaging effects.
What are the safest response measures these workers can adapt to conduct opioid-related work more safely?
Participants will also be provided the following data:
Quantity, concentrations, and make-up of some recent opioid seizures by Customs and Border Protection officers in major cities and at borders
Research results concerning dermal exposure to fentanyl
The NIOSH Health Hazard Evaluations regarding opioids
Upon completion, participants will be able to:
- Analyze potential exposure situations
- Protect themselves from opioid exposure in the course of their workday
- explore the efficacy of decontaminant solutions to clean opioid-related surfaces
