The Biosafety and Infectious Disease Training Initiative (BIDTI) is funded by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) Worker Training Program (WTP) Ebola Biosafety and Infectious Disease Response program. This education session will delve into highly hazardous communicable diseases (HHCDs), disease transmission and the environmental persistence of such organisms. The purpose of this course is to prevent and reduce work exposures to HHCDs by training attendees on the skills to recognize HHCD hazards and mitigate them. The specific content of the presentation will include modules on: infectious disease of public health significance, an overview of past Ebola outbreaks, lessons learned, worker protection and infection control measures, and the role the industrial/occupational hygiene professional can play in response and management.
