Course Description:
Review of the OSHA, NIOSH,and ACGIH recommendations for heat stress management. This session will include the following topic: 1) Inputs for calculating the TLV and Action level for a given set of conditions (effective WBGT, clothing adjustment factor and metabolic level of activity); 2) Software (freeware) for calculating WBGT from meteorological data and for predicting the expected thermal stress for given conditions; 3) Physiological monitoring (PM) using a bluetooth chest mounted device and infrared tympanic thermometer; 4) Interpretation of results of physiological monitoring; and 5). FAQs on implementing a site PM program.
